The Delco Gaels is a youth athletic and social club that teaches, organizes and participates in three of the greatest games in the world, Gaelic Football, Hurling & Camogie.
The Delco Gaels is the largest and longest established Gaelic youth club in Pennsylvania.
Members are our players, families, coaches, managers, referees and supporters. We welcome all individuals interested in the continued development of the Gaelic games or those seeking more information.
Players range in age from 4-6 (Tiny Tots Program), U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 to U18 (Minor Program). Programs are open to girls and boys. Girls may play with the boys or can opt to participate on Ladies teams only.
Based in the Havertown area, our members are from communities in Delaware, Chester, Philadelphia & Montgomery Counties.
The Indoor League programs run from January through March.
The Summer League programs run from May to July, with optional August - October tournaments.
Outdoor training facilities are located throughout Haverford Township. The Indoor training facility is MapleZone in Upper Chichester Township.
The Club participates in the local divisional tournament, The Liam Hegarty Liberty Bell Tournament, and travels to tournaments in Allentown, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston and Connecticut.
The Club also participates in the Continental Youth Championships, the largest Gaelic games tournament outside of Ireland. The CYC is a 4-day tournament, held the last week in July or first week in a selected Host City. Philadelphia and the Delco Gaels were the hosts in 2008 & 2013. We will host the tournament again this summer. Over 2,000 players participate and compete against teams from the United States, Canada, Ireland and England.
The Féile Peil na nÓg or Féile is a national festival of Gaelic football for boys and girls under 14 years of age. It is held annually in a selected host county in Ireland. The Boys have have participated in the Féile since 2007. The club was proud to send our first ever Ladies U14 team in 2018.
The continued development of our players, coaches and referees is encouraged. Camps and clinics are organized by the divisional Games Development Officer throughout the year. Individuals interested in coaching or assisting, volunteering as an official, etc. are welcome. Introductory (no experience or knowledge of the game necessary) and Advanced trainings are available.
The Club holds a social event annually. It is a celebration of the Club and our members. Members who have excelled in the current year and have demonstrated the merits of the Respect campaign are recognized and our Sponsors are acknowledged for the many opportunities realized by the children because of them.
The Club has implemented tools for Online Registration, an Equipment/Uniform Exchange and an interactive area for our coaches and their players to communicate practice/game availability, travel, changes in schedule, etc.
